Saving OBC, SC/ST quota is Modi’s guarantee: Amit Shah | India News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: A day after Calcutta high court quashed OBC reservations granted to several classes of Muslims in West Bengal, Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that “saving” reservation rights of OBCs, SC/STs was like “Modi ki guarantee”. He also said that Congress will not be able to cross 40 seats while Samajwadi Party (SP) won’t get more than four seats.
“No one would be able to rob the reservation granted to OBCs, SC/STs and give it to Muslims once BJP returns to office and Narendra Modi becomes the PM for the third consecutive time,” Shah said, while addressing a rally in UP’s Siddharthnagar. Shah also addressed rallies in Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkarnagar and Pratapgarh.
“The opposition led by Congress has kept its eyes shut for the sake of communal appeasement and vote bank politics. We would end Muslim reservation wherever it is given,” Shah said, while referring to Karnataka and Telangana.
Claiming that BJP has already won 310 seats after five phases of polling, Shah said the Congress and its ally SP would not even get 40 and four seats, respectively.
“There is no chance for opposition. Narendra Modi is poised to become the PM for the third consecutive time,” Shah said.
He said that both Congress’s Rahul Gandhi and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav have already booked tickets for June 6 – two days after Lok Sabha poll results are announced – to head out to foreign shores on vacation.
He also took a pot shot at the opposition for not having a “PM face” altogether. “When someone asked one of the Congress netas as to who would be the PM if voted to power, he said that the opposition politicians would take the responsibility one by one for the next five years,” Shah said.
“Can the country be run like this?,” he asked, stressing that there was no one except PM Modi who could give a stern reply to Pakistan, fight against a pandemic like Covid, make the country self-reliant and raise the standard of Bharat.
Shah said that while the opposition politicians were out in the field for the sake of their families, Modi relied on his family of 130 crore countrymen.
Raising the issue of PoK, the home minister reprised that the BJP govt would not be scared of Pakistan and its status of having an atom bomb.
