Oats idli is a fibrous meal that is extremely light and delicious. You can have it both for breakfast and dinner.

Ingredients: Oats, fine rava, curd, baking soda (you can also use eno), grated carrot, chopped coriander leaves, salt, oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal, ginger, cashews, hing (asafoetida), green chili, curry leaves, coriander leaves.

How to prepare:

Step 1: Add oats to a blender or a grinder and prepare a powder.

Step 2: Heat oil or ghee on a pan. You can first add the cashews and dry until they turn golden, take them out and keep aside. Add mustard, cumin, chana dal and urad dal and fry until they turn golder. Next add curry leaves, green chilies, hing and ginger. Saute.

Step 3: Add the rava, let it fry and then, mix the powdered oats. Fry until it is aromatic and add salt.

Step 4: Once the mixture has cooled down, pour in water and add curd. Mix to prepare a thick batter and set aside.

Step 5: Heat a steamer with water, sprinkle some drops of oil on the idli plates.

Step 6: In the batter, add salt, baking soda or eno and mix well. Make sure you’re quick to mix the batter.

Step 7: Put the batter in the greased idli plates and cook and steam for 10-12 minutes. Stick in a toothpick to check if it is cooked. Next, with the help of a spoon dipped in hot water, gently remove the idlis from the plates. Serve hot or warm.
